Brother Phillips was born March 2, 1928, son of Leo Ezra and Maude Gina Phillips, in Framingham. Bob worked for Sears for 25 years and for Raytheon for 38 years. Having been a 50-year Mason, Bob was very active in Shriners for 40 years. He served as an active member and Past Master of Alpha Lodge, Deputy Grand Master of the 23rd Masonic District, Honorary Member of Middlesex Lodge, also in Framingham, as well as the Meridian Lodge in Natick and the Cornicone Lodge on Cape Cod. Bob loved to sing, was a member of the Handle and Hayden group in Boston, and sang in the choirs of Park Street Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Framingham. Bob served as a youth leader at Park Street as well as on the Board of Administration at Park Street and First Baptist. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy D. Phillips, and his niece Cheryl Doherty and her 2 children, of Plymouth.
On Monday, January 22, Alpha Lodge will be conferring the second degree upon those entitled to receive it. We invite and welcome all entitled brothers to attend. Once a man has taken his first degree and has demonstrated that he has suitable proficiency as an Entered Apprentice Freemason, the lodge proceeds to the Second Degree. Once the candidate has completed his second degree, he is considered a Fellow of the Craft, or Fellowcraft Mason, symbolic of the ancient stone mason's Fellows. What follows is a period of study and reflection after which, when deemed suitably proficient in the second-degree work of an Fellowcraft, he is able to proceed to the third and final degree in Freemasonry, that of a Master Mason.
We will be opening the lodge at 7:30pm, previous to which we will be serving dinner to those with a reservation. To make a reservation for dinner and to see the details, please <click> on the corresponding Reservations button.
