Our Brother, Eliot Lurier, Has Laid Down His Working Tools
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Brother, Eliot Lurier, to the solestial lodge above. Brother Lurier served Alpha Lodge quietly but made an impact on all who knew him. He was respected by all, a mentor to many, and a friend and beloved brother in the lodge and beyond.
"On December Eighth, Eliot Lurier, a pillar of wisdom and strength, passed away in his home suddenly at the age of sixty-six. He was a beloved and cherished husband, father, and friend whose presence brought warmth and guidance to those who knew him. Eliot's unwavering and fierce love and dedication to his family was defining of his life. He leaves behind his devoted wife & soulmate Amy, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. His daughters Emily and Hannah were the pride of his life. His legacy of integrity, responsibility and kindheartedness lives on through them. He was also a caring father-in-law to Emily's husband, Ben and Hannah's Fiancé, Kyle, whom he welcomed into the family with open arms. Their presence enriched his life, and their love was always cherished by Eliot. Eliot bravely battled type I diabetes throughout the vast majority of his life, showing staunch resilience and determination through many of the challenges surrounding what he often referred to as 'his disease'. He found great joy in caring for his family and home including their beloved dog Gus, creating a beautiful environment filled with love, some barking and much laughter. Countless friends and loved ones will remember his ability to light up a room with his hilarious and infectious sense of humor. A man of boundless generosity, Eliot's impact extended far beyond his family. His career in finance and passion for caring for those with diabetes led him to become CFO of Joslin Diabetes Center, a position he was passionate and dedicated to for ten years. His wisdom, sense of humor, and unwavering support will be dearly missed by his family, friends and many acquaintances he made throughout his long career. Although Eliot's physical form is no longer with us, his memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and bring us joy when we think of the time that was taken from him and the moments not yet shared. Let us honor the values he held dear and carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Services honoring and celebrating Eliot's life will be held at 12:30PM at the Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard St, Brookline, MA 02446 Shiva will be held at the Lurier residence Monday to Friday 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm."
Our Relationship with Charity, a Dinner Discussion
Freemasons are renowned for their charitable acts. As a society, we are taught that true charity is a selfless act, but is it? As Freemasons, we are seekers of Truth. What does the science say and, equally important, what does it mean? Continuing with our annual theme, "Geometry: The Art and Science of Relationships," we will be focusing on "Our Relationship with Charity." Our guest speaker is a Harvard Professor and TEDx Cambridge presenter who has studied the science of Charity and our motivations behind performing charitable acts.
Please join the members of Alpha Lodge for a dinner presentation and discussion. Dinner is open to all Freemasons and vouched friends of the fraternity. Registration is required.
George F. Hamilton of Alpha Lodge Installed Grand Master
Members throughout the Masonic jurisdiction of Massachusetts attended the Installation of Officers and the Feast of St. John at the Grand Lodge on December 27. Alpha Lodge members had the honor of participating in the installation for their friend and Brother, George Hamilton. In addition, RW. Alfredo Canhoto was elected Junior Grand Warden, Wor. George Hayeck was appointed Junior Grand Deacon, and RW. Mike Scribner was appointed DDGM of the 15th North Masonic Jurisdiction. The district, the Grand Lodge, and the Grand Jurisdiction are in goo hands.

U.S.S. Massachusetts Masonic Memorial Service
The Master of Alpha Lodge joined the Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts and his suite of officers for a memorial remembering and honoring military veterans. The event took place Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 10:00 AM aboard the U.S.S. Massachusetts at 5 Water Street, Fall River, Massachusetts.
The ceremony included a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to R.W. Harold Nye, a decorated sailor and verteran of the USS Massachusetts.
Scottish Rite Spring 2023 Reunion
The Spring class is on Saturday, April 15, 2023, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Degrees will be shown from each of the four bodies, including the 4° and 32°. As with recent classes, we ask all current members to register for free using the link below. Blue Lodge Freemasons who are interested in joining should speak to the Master of Alpha Lodge as soon as possible.

Alpha Lodge is taking meal-plan subscriptions through PayPal. The meal plan offers a discounted rate for members and demonstrates a commitment to attending the stated communication for the year. In addition, meal plan subscribers will receive a small gift in token of our appreciation for their commitment.
The meal at Alpha Lodge is an important part of our nightly ceremony. Typically, a presentation is given or a discussion is encourage surrounding Masonic topics but is open to guests and friends of Alpha Lodge as well as any visiting member of the fraternity.
Travelling Gavel Resides at Alpha
The traveling guide has made it to Alpha Lodge. It was acquired by Alpha Lodge in the Framingham Masonic Apartments on May 17, 2022.
